I was born and mostly raised in a small town in Va, called Portsmouth. I came from a large family of great singers.
Three of the 7 of my older brothers had a very popular R&B group that traveled throughout the East. They were
even first place winners at the Apollo back in the day.
My dad used to spend the weekends making them sing
in harmony to entertain him. Being around them and listening to them gave me the desire to want to learn how to harmonize.
I picked it up rather quickly and began harmonizing every chance I got. One of my brothers went to Germany via
the US Army and sent me back 2 tape recorders, one being a reel to reel tape recorder. (from back in the day) I began
creating my own little harmonies. My brothers up to this day still joke about how I created all the parts for
"Three Blind Mice".
My interest in harmony continued and I went on to take voice lessons and to sing with various groups
and choirs, including singing with my brothers once at a Naval Airfore Base. I have since worked in NY with choirs,
groups, and solo artists. I have sung at Carnegie Hall, where I was asked to sing the National Anthem for a stamp dedication
in honor of Judy Garland, as well as, Benjamin Franklin, and Longfellow. My preference is gospel music,
but I have also worked with Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, Acoustic, Soul, and others. The artists that I have worked with have
come from of course the USA, France, Switzerland, and London, I am looking forward to working with artists from other
Countries as well.
I am currently the Director of an awesome all girl gospel group by the name of
Refining Faith. The group consists of 6 singers each of whom I met at the Church that we were all apart of. I focus on a very
tight blend by pairing 2 singers on each note. (except when creating 4 or 5 parts)
Refining Faith has gone on to win many awards. They were the
2007 Tiffany Awards Winners for single of the year Group, and were nominated in 2008 for a Momentum Award based in Tennessee. Refining Faith has
also had the opportunity to sing for many Government, Corporate, Cafe, and Church events, two of which were
the stamp dedications for Ella Fitzgerald and Hattie McDaniel.
Singing and creating vocal harmonies as you
can see has been apart of my life for many years, and I get great joy out of the creation. It is truly what I love
to do and it is why I created the Company. I hope that reading a little about me, will help you to trust
that Background Vocals Created for You will give there all to your project.
Grace and Peace,
